DACA renewals

Renewal of deferred action and the work permit that comes with it, filed on time.

Book a free consultation about DACA renewals

USCIS accepts DACA renewals from current recipients; first-time requests are still not being decided while the Texas case continues. Renewals now take months, so filing 120 to 150 days before your expiration date matters more than it used to.

Who this is for

  • Current DACA recipients
  • Recipients whose DACA lapsed less than a year ago
  • Recipients with an arrest or a trip abroad since the last renewal

How a case usually goes

  1. Check of your dates and anything new since the last approval
  2. I-821D and I-765 with the current fees
  3. Biometrics appointment
  4. Follow-up until the approval and the new card arrive

Documents to gather

  • Your most recent DACA approval notice
  • Your current work permit, front and back
  • Two passport-style photos
  • Court records for any arrest since the last renewal
  • Advance parole documents, if you traveled
  • The renewal fees: I-821D and I-765

Watch out for

Do not travel abroad on DACA without first talking to a lawyer: an August 2026 BIA decision raised the risk.
